Archigram's experimental project SPRAY PLASTIC HOUSE concentrates on the idea of personalized private housing. The design is about to create a cave alike dwelling, which is mainly designed by the user in the companionship of the architect as an advisor. The construction follows in three steps. First the users carve the rooms out of a 40ft. by 15ft. foamed polystyrene block with burrowing tools. Second the completely designed burrow will be sprayed with plastic and fiberglass spray under the supervision of a plastic engineer and the client chooses regions or surfaces to be transparent or translucent. Third, a shell for the cave, created by the architect service consultant and the client. The client decides where the walls to put or lightning and the heating to be.
This experiment of archigram was one of the first projects about the absolute privatization of the dwelling which mean to suit the user perfectly like a tailored suit.
